Kernel bases approximation and applications
In many applications one faces the scattered data interpolation or approximation problem possibly in huge dimensions. If the target functions are characterized by steep gradients, we seek for novel numerical methods. Specifically, the group interest is devoted to studying and analyzing new kernel bases that naturally adapt to the target. Such bases can be successfully applied to many problems, as the reconstruction or prediction of solar flares.
