MASON PEMBER - TU WIEN - DISCRETE DIFFERENTIAL GEOMETRY

2 aprile 2019 - ore 10:00 - Aula Buzano

Discrete differential geometry (DDG) has been an area of intense research over the past three decades. Its appeal stems largely from its applications in various non-mathematical fields such as architecture and computer graphics. The main aim of DDG is to find discrete counterparts to objects of smooth differential geometry, e.g., surfaces with special curvature properties.
In this talk, Dr Pember will elucidate some of these concepts by focusing on a particular smooth class of surfaces called Omega-surfaces. He will then demonstrate an approach to discretising this class which focuses on retaining the integrable nature of these surfaces
