Scientific and technological applications of origami

Origami folding techniques are intrinsically linked to many areas of Geometry and Algebra as Differential Geometry, Galois theory, field extensions, graph theory. In recent years, various results obtained in this direction have highlighted the potential of origami and have been exploited for technological applications and not only; this mathematical approach to origami has been used for example for architectural modeling. Our group (POLIMADE) is interdisciplinary and interdepartmental (DAD and DISMA) and includes the architects Ursula Zich and Martino Pavignano (DAD).
